CLASS LISTS

Class Lists

For students going into grades 3 to 6, their new teachers were indicated on the bottom of their report card that was sent home.

For students going into Kindergarten, Grade 1 or Grade 2, we will email you this week to let you know their teacher.

For Preschool students, we are waiting to send out the class lists because of the various scenarios that may result based on screening assessments and registration numbers. We are working to accommodate as many requests as possible, but it can be difficult if those requests create unbalanced classes. As soon as we are sure of the number of Preschool classes that will be offered, we will send out those lists. Preschool in Westwind School Division is intended to, first, provide needed supports for students with more complex needs, and then to be a program for all students. With that in mind, here is the process that we used when creating class lists:

  1. Place students with more complex needs who are receiving supports through PUF according to parent requests

  2. Balance those students across classes to ensure proper supports can be put in place for each class

  3. Place remaining students receiving supports through PUF according to parent requests

  4. Balance those students across classes to ensure proper supports

  5. Place remaining students (according to parent requests, if there is one)

  6. Balance number (and gender) of students as much as possible.

Any of the “balancing” steps (#2, 4 or 6) may move a student away from the requested day or time. While we do our best to honor those requests, we ask for your understanding as to why we cannot accommodate all of them.
