Navigating Technology with our Youth, presented by Juno House and facilitated by Andrea Halwas Larsen, Ph.D., a Counseling Therapist and Education Coordinator at Juno House. This session, scheduled for September 26th, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, aims to explore the impact of technology on today's youth. It will focus on various aspects, including the role of technology in child brain development, the risks and benefits of technology use, and strategies for parents and caregivers to become emotional coaches for their children. The workshop, sponsored by the Arnica Foundation, will provide insights into building healthy emotional and neurological development in children and adolescents, particularly girls and young women facing mental health challenges. The session is hosted by the Alberta Health Services in partnership with the Community Education Service of the Mental Health Collaborative.

12-week therapy group titled "Healing Journey," organized by Lethbridge Family Services in collaboration with Alberta Health Services Mental Health and Addiction. The sessions are free and will take place on Friday mornings from September 27th to December 13th, 2024, between 9:00 am and 11:30 am. The therapy group aims to assist adults 18 and older who have experienced abuse or trauma, and are struggling with anxiety, depression, or other mental health concerns. The group will focus on understanding the effects of trauma, building resilience, providing opportunities for expressive arts activities, and fostering a supportive environment for sharing personal experiences. The sessions will be held at the LFS Counselling office, located at 1098 3rd Avenue North.

The annual Autism Parenting Summit, which is free and online, will take place from October 11th to 14th. This event will feature a host of experts, including Temple Grandin and Elizabeth Bonker, who will cover a broad range of topics. These include transitioning to adulthood, managing picky eating, enhancing communication strategies, and much more. You can view the agenda for the three days here.
